Enviroment & us

The Maston production facilities are heated with wood granules!

Our production facilities in Veikola are being heated in an environmentally friendly way with Vapo’s wooden granules. Wooden granules are small fuel briquettes made of woodchips or sawdust. Burning wooden granules does not increase the carbon dioxide emissions in energy production as the released carbon dioxide is bound into the new growing trees. Wooden granules are a wooden fuel, and are thus a practically sulphur free fuel. Provided that the combustion equipment is adjusted correctly, the carbon monoxide and nitrogen emissions remain low as combustion is being controlled with an even quality fuel and a balanced fuel feed.

Support sustainable development by recycling.

Recycling supports sustainable development. We offer products for repairing surfaces of most used and recycled products thus supporting sustainable development. Our aim is to guarantee possibilities for a good life for the current and future generations. By the way, did you know that Maston’s spray can tops are made of recycled plastic?

Maston’s spray cans and paint boxes are recyclable!

Used paint boxes and spray cans are considered hazardous waste. And that they indeed are, especially, if they contain any product, or if the spray cans remain pressurised. Empty cans and boxes are considered ordinary metal package waste, and may be recycled similarly with other metals in small waste metal bins. Waste metal bins are designed for recycling small household waste metal. Also, pots and smaller machine and car parts as well as empty paint boxes and spray cans are considered such waste metal. Large scrap metal may be taken to waste metal collection points at landfills, or sold to scrap businesses. Non-renewable energy resources are being preserved, if all usable metal is recycled. Using recycled materials in production instead of new materials helps to save energy, too.

Please, consider the following when taking a paint box or a spray can to a rubbish bin:

Aerosols:

1. Aerosol cans are empty when no swashing is neither heard nor felt when the can is being shaken, no fizzing is heard, and no propellant or any other substance is coming out when the valve pin is being pressed.
The plastic cover and the valve pin should be removed from the recyclable can if possible
The empty aerosol can is taken to the same rubbish bin with other metal and package waste. Empty aluminium and tin aerosol cans are recyclable.

Paint boxes:

1. Metallic paint boxes are suitable for recycling provided that they are empty and “brush dry”.
2. A hole should be punched in the bottom of the cone shaped paint boxes to ensure ventilation and to thoroughly empty the boxes.
3. Metal caps are taken to small waste metal collection points separately. The cap should always be removed from the can.
4. Large batches originating from professional use are delivered to a separate waste metal collection point or to a scrap business.

Half-full aerosol cans and paint boxes containing wet paint should be taken to hazardous waste collecting points. If an aerosol can is not entirely empty, it is advisable to save the can for further use, or give it to somebody else to be used as aerosol remains useable in a can practically forever.
